completing the music video for the latest Moodorgan track

ad hoc render farmthe ad hoc render farm
May 12 was the deadline for completing the edit for Moodorgan's track Remember the Truth [prv2 (9.9.9) mix]. The concept for the video involved a number of "videos-within-a-video" integrated into a futuristic urban environment; with a lot of architecture to render, we had to put a few additional render machines on line.

It was also necessary to integrate a bunch of greenscreen footage shot at our warehouse space downtown.

Most of the editing was executed in Final Cut Pro; Lightwave for the 3D elements, and most of the compositing in After Effects.

The latest edit can be viewed here.

DRASH interactive design and sales tool

DRASH makes several lines of modular structures and accessories. This sales tool allows the configuration of these modules in a 2D plan view while simultaneously generating an interactive 3D view of the structure layout. Specifications and information about each component as well as totals such as weight for the entire configuration are also provided. Layouts can be saved for later retrieval.

An on-line version of this application can be run from the DRASH site.

Inhance VIP installation (projection)Inhance VIP installation (projection)
The Inhance VIP system includes three synchronized display screens (LCD, plasma, or projection) and two control (presenter) stations. The three presentation screens may be sync'ed for playback of wide-format video content (video or 2d/3d interactive animation). The presentation is controlled by the presenter at one of the two control stations. The system runs on five independent computers, with control and synchronization via Ethernet LAN.

eBooklets

In 2004-5, as a Senior Designer (freelance) with the Digitas Boston team, I worked with the in-house creative directors, art directors, copywriters, and designers to create a series of "eBooklets" - multiplatform CD-ROMs that used the conceptual model of a book with front and back covers and 3D animated "page turn" linear navigation.

interactive "holographic" presentation systems

Intel boothIntel boothWhile technically not holography, "holographic" panels such as the one shown here create a compelling, three-dimensional experience by combining rear-screen projection on a transparent surface with embedded touchscreen technology.

At Oracle Open World 2008, I did the application development and on-site install/support for this installation in the Intel booth that integrated three such panels, arranged in a triangle. The center of the staging was open and the three panels faced inward. The result was an environment in which a user interacting on one panel could also see beyond the panel to (the reverse of) the opposite panels and finally to the show floor beyond. This allowed participants to interact with the presentation without being closed off from the larger experience around them and gave the installation a very "open" feel.
