Also this week was the first test of the full-body gesture recognition and translation system, downtown at our warehouse space.
With the audio system, video projection, lighting and laptops to run the audio and video software set up, we strapped the sensor system on dancer Forest and ran a short improvised performance where her movements drove both the music and visual compositions.
prototyping the new gesture tracking rig
![]()
Over the last few weeks I've been prototyping the sensor rig for the upcoming gesture-driven performance system.
Rotation at each major arm and leg joint is tracked by simple 50k potentiometers. Dual-axis accelerometers are mounted on each hand.

Some descriptions of custom instruments recently developed for the Los Angeles band Moodorgan have been posted, here.
These are custom MIDI controllers and hardware designed for live performance.

In 2005 I assembled a group of artists and musicians to create images and sounds in a live performance environment.
Special-ops interactive presentation

Boeing V-22 presentation (design notes)
As a developer with Inhance Digital, I was involved in the new development for a multi-screen presentation system for major defense contractors.
Tradeshow kiosks
![]()
I designed the UI and built this kiosk for Hughes, installed at a trade show in Switzerland. This was a typical component of a number of installations the Jack Morton team created for major corporate clients, circa 2000.
DRASH interactive design and sales tool
![]()
DRASH makes several lines of modular structures and accessories. This sales tool allows the configuration of these modules in a 2D plan view while simultaneously generating an interactive 3D view of the structure layout. Specifications and information about each component as well as totals such as weight for the entire configuration are also provided. Layouts can be saved for later retrieval.
An on-line version of this application can be run from the DRASH site.

NASA lunar mission multitouch interface
The NASA lunar mission experience is a centerpiece to this exhibit, allowing users to learn about NASA's plans to construct an outpost on the moon.
Inhance VIP presentation system
![]()
Inhance VIP installation (projection)
The Inhance VIP system includes three synchronized display screens (LCD, plasma, or projection) and two control (presenter) stations. The three presentation screens may be sync'ed for playback of wide-format video content (video or 2d/3d interactive animation). The presentation is controlled by the presenter at one of the two control stations. The system runs on five independent computers, with control and synchronization via Ethernet LAN.
eBooklets
In 2004-5, as a Senior Designer (freelance) with the Digitas Boston team, I worked with the in-house creative directors, art directors, copywriters, and designers to create a series of "eBooklets" - multiplatform CD-ROMs that used the conceptual model of a book with front and back covers and 3D animated "page turn" linear navigation.
