eBooklets

In 2004-5, as a Senior Designer (freelance) with the Digitas Boston team, I worked with the in-house Creative Directors, Art Directors, Copywriters, and designers to create a series of "eBooklets" - multiplatform CD-ROMs that used the conceptual model of a book with front and back covers and 3D animated "page turn" linear navigation.

My primary responsibility was execution of each piece in Director MX, including animation and programming; as a key member of the creative team I was also involved with visual and interface design, graphic design, video editing, music composition and sound design.

Holiday Inn eBooklet - developed for Intercontinental Hotel Group to showcase the completely redesigned Holiday Inn model; this piece received a MITX award in 2004.

Another eBooklet was developed for GM as the first interactive piece to describe the complete "GM story" - from individual vehicles to broad concepts like safety and innovation.

The CD-ROM includes several features for tracking usage and for collecting feedback.

When the eBooklet is closed, a popup window prompts the user to take an online survey, and opens a browser window if the user accepts.

The eBooklet application also continually tracks and measures the actions of the user while the piece is open. Metrics such as navigation choices and time spent in each section are monitored, and if the user is online when the application is closed, these numbers are uploaded to a database server.
